How I Made My First $10,000 Online
within I started making money online in 2005 way long before I knew that this would turn into my passion and home-based business. I was selling beauty products to my friends in Germany and Russia, Italy and anywhere that would accept mail.
2009 is when I really got serious about making money online and a couple of years later I generated my first $10,000 online.
HOW DID I DO IT?
I had already tried to sell some digital products online, advertising space on my private social network for home-based business owners as well as a bunch of other things but the real break came when I launched my own web development and logo design business. I will save the details of why I decided to do this for another blog post.
At the time I had very little knowledge about website development but couldn’t create a decent one on my own, I also had basic graphic designing skills that I used to sell logos for $40 on Craigslist.
During this time I was also researching and learning more about internet marketing when I came across Tim Ferriss’s book “4 Hour Work Week” the idea of working 4 hours a week and getting paid for it blew my mind.
One of the things that really struck me was the idea that I could hire people in India to work for me…in my pajamas and without having to leave the house aka OUTSOURCING.
Off I went on a Google Search frenzy trying to find the best people to work with and after a few trials, I was able to find a great web developer who is now a friend/partner in India. The first project we did together was to build a website for my then logo business Amazing Logo Designs. I gave him my instructions and within a few weeks, my project was completed….just like that!
I was wowed by this — my project was done EXACTLY to my specifications. ( Totally awesome). I know that a lot of people have outsourcing horror stories (and I do as well, though that’s for another post), but my first experience was flawless. Needless to say – I was hooked.
We then went on developing my web development website now Mutuku Media in late 2011 and thereafter securing 3 website projects that generated a combined $10,000+. If you ask me, I never thought that I would charge $3000+ for a website but back then people were charging an arm and a leg for it in fact, I reached out to a local company to find out how much it would cost to build a site like my Amazing Logo Designs and to my surprise the cost was an alarming $25,000. WOWZERS! (My prices went up the next year)
Since then, I have outsourced hundreds of projects to people all over the world, from Kenya, to the Philippines, and to India. My video editor is in Egypt and often talks about the Pyramids (fascinated by them btw)…I’ve had logos designed, websites created, apps coded, videos edited, and so much more that I can’t even remember at this point.
My web developer friend in India eventually opened up an office and now has over 20 people on his team (started from the bottom now we are here!). Even though I work with specific people from relationships that I have cultivated through the years. I’ve become pretty experienced in the “Art” of outsourcing.
If you are interested in learning more about outsourcing or have a question, drop me a comment below…I might just create a program for it. the great thing is, as long as you know how to outsource and have a computer and internet connection, you can create your very own web company just like I did.
